CUNY Astro students are generally enrolled in a CUNY Astro program and interested in getting involved in professional astronomy and astrophysics research. Undergraduates come from across CUNY’s campuses and are typically physics, engineering, or related STEM-field majors. Graduate students are enrolled in the Physics PhD or Astrophysics MS programs at the CUNY Graduate Center.
The student community is a vibrant group typically comprised of about 20 undergraduates, 10 PhD students, and 20 MS students. The students are self-organized into a Student Union and serve as student representatives on the various program’s governance committees.
